If you’re using a rechargeable pod system rather than a disposable, a small amount of regular care goes a long way — both for how it performs and for how long it lasts. None of this takes more than a few minutes.
Keep the contacts clean
The small metal contacts between the pod and the battery can pick up a bit of residue over time, which is one of the most common causes of a device that suddenly feels weaker or won’t fire properly. Wipe them gently with a dry cotton swab or a soft, slightly damp cloth every so often — let them dry fully before reinserting the pod.
Don’t let it run bone dry
Vaping a pod after the e-liquid has fully run out — known as a “dry hit” — doesn’t just taste unpleasant, it can also affect the coil. Try to notice when a pod is getting low and swap it before it’s completely empty.
Store it properly
Heat and direct sunlight aren’t great for batteries or e-liquid. A drawer or bag pocket at room temperature is a better home for your device than a car dashboard or a sunny windowsill.
Charge it sensibly
You don’t need to run the battery all the way to zero before charging, and you don’t need to leave it on the charger long after it’s full. Topping up when convenient is perfectly fine for the battery.
A quick monthly checklist
- Wipe the contacts with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Check the pod seal isn’t cracked or loose.
- Give the exterior a wipe — residue builds up here too.
- Confirm the charging port is free of lint or dust.
If you’ve followed all of this and a device still isn’t performing the way it should, it may simply be time for a new pod or a new device — browse our Pod Systems and Cartridges & Pods ranges.
